Job Summary:
As the Senior Production Technician on the Plant Operations team, your focus will be on mentoring and transferring skills to junior Production Technicians and leveraging advanced equipment operational and maintenance skill sets. You'll be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hydropower plant equipment and systems, and providing guidance and support to the Production Technicians. Your insight will be instrumental in shaping the future of our company and contributing to our mission of clean energy transformation.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the safe operation, monitoring, and maintenance of hydropower generation stations.
- Take charge of complex maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and repairs on turbines and associated equipment, offering technical expertise and guidance to junior technicians.
- Supervise gate changes as instructed and ensure accurate documentation.
- Assume responsibility for monitoring and reporting conditions, instrument readings, and data collection during periods of significant runoff, making critical decisions to optimize plant performance.
- Coordinate and execute station and dam operations while strictly adhering to safety protocols and ensuring the highest standards of safety.
- Identify, diagnose, and oversee the repair of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical system issues, providing technical recommendations.
- Implement a comprehensive equipment quality assessment program and promptly report any issues, adhering to company specifications.
- Act as a contractor monitor when required, reporting to the immediate Supervisor or Project Manager, while also mentoring junior technicians.
- Ensure rigorous compliance with Employer HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) policies and procedures, maintaining a culture of safety within the team.
- Foster adherence to all operational requirements and procedures, offering guidance and training as necessary.
- Demonstrate exceptional adaptability, responding to changing situations, emergencies, and multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment, setting an example for junior technicians.
- Utilize corporate enterprise resource program (if applicable) for time and expense entry, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Be readily available for overtime, on-call duties, and after-hours "call-ins" as needed, supporting the operational continuity of the hydropower plants.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to work at multiple stations when necessary, promoting team cohesion and plant efficiency.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior Production Technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge base.
- Drive professional growth and development by setting and achieving clear objectives in alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications:
- 2 – 5+ years in hydropower operations; rigging, lifting, welding experience preferred.
- Technical degree or equivalent hands-on experience required.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and substantial relevant experience are required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel and stay overnight for company business purposes, including training and corporate meetings.
- Proficiency in leading teams and working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Extensive experience with electrical repair and maintenance of hydro turbine/generator systems, industrial electrical systems, and related equipment is preferred.
- In-depth familiarity with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic systems, and PLC programming and troubleshooting, offering technical guidance to resolve complex issues is a plus.
- Exceptional proficiency in reading and understanding electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings and schematics, aiding in advanced problem-solving is a plus.
- Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite, including MS Outlook, for effective communication and documentation is a plus.
