Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW
Health In Harmony aims to significantly expand organizational marketing to support ambitious targets in fundraising, programmatic growth, and advocacy. The Communications Manager plays a critical role in growing the external communications and social media capacity of the organization in order to put HIH’s impact, mission, and plans in front of a growing and globally influential audience, in order to center rainforest community stories and expertise for climate justice solutions.

The Communications Manager will project manage the Communications team and its various responsibilities. This work will cross time zones and departments. It will also include direct contact with HIH affiliate communications teams in the rainforests where HIH works, to collaborate and support these teams to, for example, improve their own in-country communications and produce media materials for global use.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Management
  • Project manage communications-specific and inter-departmental projects (outlining key stakeholders and deadlines, working in Asana, adjusting schedules based on prioritizations set by the Communications Director).
  • Coordinate interdepartmental projects and strengthen communication pipelines.
  • Manage the Communications Associate(s), Social Media Associate, and intern(s).  
  • Build out and strengthen internal organizational systems within the department and across HIH Global.
  •  With the support of the Directors, work closely with PR consultants to support press & media inquiries and results.

Content
  • Oversee communications content (digital, socials, website, newsletters, media pitches, publications, FR campaigns, etc.) to ensure accuracy, relevance, brand coherence, and adherence to planning and strategy.
  • Directly support the creation of the annual Impact Report (write copy, work with designer, and relevant stakeholders).
  • Manage annual updates of brand book ensuring brand meets accessibility standards, and guidelines are followed across marketing channels.
  • Support management of digital campaigns, with a focus on social media.
  • Liaise directly with and support HIH affiliate communications teams in the rainforests where HIH works (Brazil, Madagascar, Indonesia, etc); collaborate with these teams to produce media materials for global campaigns.

Strategy
  • Work with the team to build and strengthen segmentation and best practices for all digital marketing channels with a focus on social media.
  • Manage communications workflow with international communications team members and partners. 
  • Support partners in HIH affiliate teams in Indonesia, Madagascar, Brazil, Panama, DRC to strengthen and develop a content pipeline.
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications Associate to further the development and effectiveness of Mailchimp.
  •  Support Communications Associate in managing HIH global team internal communications and provide support to maintain brand standards inter-departmentally.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 3-5 years of working experience in communications and marketing for a non-profit organization.
  • At least 2 years of team management experience in communications.
  • At least 3 years working professionally in social media or a similar field and be able to demonstrate this and show recent successes.
  • Strong relationship skills – the ability to work with donors, interns, staff, and the Board of Directors.
  • Analytical mindset, flexibility, and ability to assess and pivot.
  • Ability to speak, write and instruct in the voice of Health In Harmony, as well as evolve this voice.
  • Excellent judgment with the ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
  • Strong design ethic and Canva skills.
